Testimonials from our members

Dirk Backofen

Chairman of the Management Board
Head of Telekom Security,
T-Systems International GmbH

It is our goal to make Bonn the cyber security capital of Europe. We create the perfect symbiosis of cyber security authorities, research institutions, and private industry and develop Bonn to become the "Davos for Cyber Security". With the annual large-scale event of the industry, the 'Cyber Security Tech Summit Europe' (in 2019 on 13th / 14th March), we provide an international platform that offers top keynotes and innovative security trends, and that facilitates the exchange of Cyber Security Professionals among one another.

Prof. Dr. Peter Martini
Deputy of the Chairman of the Management Board
Fraunhofer FKIE and University of Bonn
In close cooperation with the top players in the field, our scientists and students ensure more security in the cyber and information space. For us, basic research and application orientation are not contradictions, but a lived reality.
Goodarz Mahbobi

Deputy of the Chairman of the Management Board
CEO axxessio GmbH

When the project 'Digital Bonn' was launched by the Mayor of Bonn Ashok-Alexander Sridharan and me, it was already clear that cyber security would play a major role. With the foundation of the Cyber Security Cluster we have now reached another milestone in this project! I am proud to make a contribution as a board member and I am confident that Bonn has the necessary power and know-how to lead the cluster to success.

Dr. Hubertus Hille

CFO of the Management Board
CEO IHK Bonn/Rhein- Sieg

Cyber Security needs specialized experts, experts, and even more experts. One of the clusters's missions is to promote the training and recruitment of academic and non-academic professionals. As the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, we can make a valuable contribution to this.
Dirk Lieder
Board Member
Managing Director CONET Solutions GmbH
Cyber Security is the cornerstone of a successful digital future. The combination of research, teaching, politics, manufacturers, consultants, and users in the Cyber Security Cluster Bonn is unique and contributes significantly to understanding and advancing Cyber Security as a national objective. This is an essential approach, because the challenges of secure digitalization cannot be mastered by any single party alone. In German IT and consulting firms, an impressive spectrum of the necessary security, process, and industry know-how from many years of project experience is concentrated.
Stephan Wirtz

Prof. Dr. Thorsten Bonne

As a university of applied sciences we are aware of the importance of Cyber Security for science and the industry. Therefore, we actively participated in the initiation, conception, and foundation of the cluster. The close cooperation of companies, public authorities, and scientific institutions enables us to quickly identify current and future needs for teaching and research and to implement them tailored to our target group. We are convinced that we can make a meaningful contribution to a secure digital future together.

Christian Schmickler
Cluster Manager
Cyber Security Cluster Bonn e.V.
The establishment of the Cyber Security Cluster Bonn highlights the excellent position of our region in the field of cyber security. It is a pleasure to contribute to the growth of this diverse network and to be able to play a part in rooting the topic even more deeply in our region.

Six benefits of a membership

The Cluster boosts the awareness of Cyber Security in organizations that are still inadequately protected and contributes to an Europe-wide perception of Bonn as an important center of Cyber Security.

Our members have direct access to important players in the region via our exchange formats.

Our members receive privileged and sometimes discounted access to conferences, workshops, and other events.

We provide our members with opportunities to get in touch with the next generation of academic and non-academic specialists. It is our committment to help ensure that supply and demand of experts find one another most effectively – and we offer formats such as speed datings and meeting platforms. The cluster helps set up training and further education programmes for non-academic specialists and design them as required by our members.

We are committed to attracting further Cyber Security institutions to the region and promote our location for that matter. Our direct contacts to politicians in NRW, the federal government and the EU are a vital asset.

The next generation of entrepreneurs is important to the Cluster. With our exchange formats and the cooperation with the Digital Hub Bonn, we want to ensure that cyber security startups are founded in our region. As a member of the association, you will learn at an early stage what is going on in this field.
